Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission
Description
The Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (SHIAC), also known as the Shanghai International Arbitration Center, was established in 1988 with the approval of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government. It provides independent, impartial and efficient dispute resolution services to domestic and international commercial parties, and is among the first institutions included in the Supreme People’s Court’s “one-stop” diversified international dispute resolution mechanism.
With over three decades of development, SHIAC has built a strong international reputation, handling a growing volume of complex, high-value disputes across sectors including finance, trade, construction, aviation and digital commerce. Its global caseload spans parties from more than 80 countries and regions, supported by a panel of over 1,800 arbitrators worldwide. Through continued investment in specialised arbitration centres and rules, alongside expanding global cooperation, SHIAC is strengthening its position as a leading arbitration hub serving Shanghai, China and the wider Asia-Pacific region.
