Monique Sasson has thirty years of experience in analysing international disputes; her practice includes advocacy as counsel and sitting as arbitrator and mediator. Before earning a Ph.D. in international law from Cambridge University, under the late Professor James Crawford, she worked at two major law firms, in London and in Rome. She is qualified as a New York attorney, an English solicitor (with advocacy rights, Senior Courts of England and Wales), and an Italian avvocato.
Monique returned to her home jurisdiction in 2017 after working in house at Morgan Stanley in New York. While in New York, she was also on the JAMS International List of Arbitrators and Mediators and, for example, successfully mediated a commercial engineering dispute between an Italian manufacturer and its U.S. distributor. She was also involved in mediation of other disputes connected with U.S. state courts.
While in London, Monique worked as counsel on major international arbitration and High Court cases as a member of the Herbert Smith law firm’s international disputes group.
She is one of the founding partners of DeliSasson, which has offices in Milan and Rome.
Monique has particular expertise in international investment law. She has served as an international law expert in an ICSID arbitration, and the second edition of her book, Substantive Law in Investment Treaty Arbitration, was published by Kluwer in 2017. She is in Arbitra’s list of arbitrators.
