Renato is Professor of Law and Director of the Centre of Construction Law and Dispute Resolution at King’s College London. In 2025 he was appointed King’s Counsel (Hon) for his major contribution to English law. That same year, after having practised a solicitor first with the UK Government and then as a partner at a boutique arbitration firm, he was called to the Bar of England and Wales. An experienced arbitrator and counsel in international arbitration, he has a wide industry knowledge, including construction, oil and gas, infrastructure, energy, IT and digital, M&A, IP, pharmaceuticals, transport, commodities, and distribution. He is also an expert in investment arbitration, particularly in the construction and infrastructure sector. Being qualified also as Italian Advocate, he understands the different approaches of common law and civil law jurisdictions and is able to resolve effectively and pragmatically complex substantive and procedural problems. He has worked across Europe, Africa, Asia and America. He acted as counsel and as arbitrator (president, sole arbitrator, wing-member and emergency arbitrator) under most international rules including ICC, LCIA, DIAC, SIAC, UNCITRAL and CAM. Member of the ICC Arbitration and ADR Commission, Italy. Member of the ICC Task Force on Dealing with Corruption Issues in International Arbitration. Member of the Board of the International Construction Law Association and of Africa Construction Law. Admitted to the SIAC, DIAC, SCCA, Polish Arbitration Chamber, Lewiatan Court of Arbitration panels of arbitrators and to the HKIAC panel of adjudicators and list of arbitrators.
