Matthias is a Principal Associate (Rechtsanwalt) at Freshfields and is based in Vienna. He is a member of both Freshfields’ Intellectual Property and International Arbitration teams. Matthias regularly advises and represents clients in complex contentious matters and projects. Matthias’ expertise in international disputes and transactions, including arbitration proceedings, allows him to seamlessly advise in cross border scenarios.

Matthias' arbitration experience extends to disputes involving post M&A, telecommunications, financial and energy matters under the ICC Rules, the DIS Rules, the VIAC Rules and ad hoc proceedings. He has also acted as tribunal secretary in several proceedings. He is active in stakeholder and industry discussions on hot IP topics through his role as a member of the ICC’s Global IP Commission and co-head of the ICC’s task force on AI and IP.
