Živa Filipič is an international arbitrator and dispute-resolution lawyer with over 15 years of experience across a wide range of sectors and legal systems. She has handled numerous arbitrations in construction and engineering, energy and mining, international sales, distribution and agency, corporate matters, and other fields, with particularly extensive experience in cases involving states and state-owned entities.

Until July 2026, Živa served as Managing Counsel of the ICC International Court of Arbitration. In that role, she played a central part in managing hundreds of international arbitrations worldwide. Her responsibilities included reviewing arbitral awards submitted for the ICC Court’s scrutiny, as well as assisting the ICC Court Secretariat’s case-management teams—eight in Paris and one each in New York, Hong Kong, São Paulo, Singapore, and Abu Dhabi—in preparing appointments and other decisions taken by the Court and guiding their day-to-day case management. As part of the Secretariat’s leadership team, she helped shape the Court’s practices and policies and led various projects related to the Court’s work. Her other roles at the ICC included serving as Counsel in charge of the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean case-management team and as Acting Deputy Secretary General.

Živa is a Slovenian lawyer and holds an LL.M. from King’s College London (KCL). She was a member of KCL’s first team for the VIS Moot and later served as the team’s main coach during the oral rounds in 2010, when the team won the competition.

She speaks English, Italian, Spanish, and French, and reads and understands Croatian, Serbian, German, and Portuguese.
